One Photograph at a Time

After spending several hours in a classroom talking about photography my trigger finger was getting pretty itchy to take some photos this week.

It turns out wiggly little kids are not the easiest subjects for a photographer who isn't sure how to focus yet. But one or two turned out okay.

Later Steph, met up with me to practice on each other.

She is so much more daring and artistic with her shots and I am learning lots from her.

It was fun.

And yes, I think I did ruin my coat.

spring fever

The sun is shining in Boise for the first time in weeks and it is a balmy 41 degrees. It has me all antsy and anxious. I am like a kid in sacrament meeting. I forgot how hard it is for me to focus when the weather is nice outside. I have decided that I need to get all my work done before April so I can take the summer off.

That will work. I think that will work.

camera karma

Okay folks, it is official, the universe supports my photography hobby. Consider the following:

Contrary to every tardy bone in my body I ended up being a 1/2 hour early to my photo class last night. When I arrived there was another woman there. When she noticed my Nikon she asked me if I wanted another lens. Assuming she was trying to sell one and knowing that lenses are expensive (no seriously it is alarming how expensive they are, usually as expensive as your camera and often more) I said, "hell no, leave me alone lady." (Or something like that). But then she persisted explaining that a photographer friend of hers asked her to give it to someone who would appreciate it. And there I was, an appreciative Nikon owner, just sitting there waiting to receive her gift. All she asked in return was that I smile appreciately for a photo to give to her friend. And so that is how, without parting with any hundreds of dollars, I became the proud owner of a 28-105 mm Tokina.

Thanks universe and anonymous photographer.

I will not let you down.

209

Mike bowled a 209 this weekend. He either got a spare or strike in 9 frames. It is the best game I have ever seen someone bowl outside of television bowling---which of course I do not watch, I have a life.

I figured that might be the best score he gets-- his whole life. Unfortunately we will have to wait until he is dead to be sure. I will keep you posted.

In the mean time, kudos Mike!

in the news

My company was featured in the local news because of an award it received. The back of my head might also be on the news tonight. Hot.

Most of my friends and family can't really understand what my company does. Don't feel bad, I don't really understand what we do either. This article will mostly likely just make you more confused.

keep right

Our office party was a go kart race. I really really did not want to race one of those death machines but I complied to be a "good sport." But since I didn't want to go very fast and also didn't want to ruin any one else's fun, I would pull over and let everyone pass me when they lapped me. Consequently, I was the very slowest of nearly 100 racers. Today the results came out and I won a $15 gift card for having the slowest average lap time. To give you an idea of just how slow I am, my time was 43.008 and the fastest driver's time was 23.634.

I do not know why I am proud of that...
